Welcome to the Spruce Cove Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre!

HISTORY

The Spruce Cove Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, founded on November 1, 1999, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned wildlife.

On December 1, 1999, the centre was incorporated through the Joint Registry of Nova Scotia as a not-for-profit society. In June 2000, the Centre officially opened its doors for injured, orphaned, and sick wildlife. On January 1, 2001, Spruce Cove received its charity status from the Federal Government which now allows the Centre to issue receipts for Income Tax purposes.

We have rehabilitation permits from the Department of Natural Resources and the Federal Department of Environment (rehabbing migratory birds)

MISSION STATEMENT

Although the central mission of the Spruce Cove Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre is to rehabilitate and release injured and orphaned wildlife, the means to this end almost always focus on a bigger picture that involves both public and community support. The essential mission of the Spruce Cove Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre is to promote an appreciation for wildlife and wildlife conservation. We do this by providing a place for residents and businesses along the South Shore of Nova Scotia to observe programs that assist in the rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned wildlife.
